LyX is a wordprocessor frontend to LaTeX, which gives both the ease-of-use of a wordprocessor, and the flexibility and power of LaTeX. Quasi-WYSIWYG interface, many LaTeX styles and layouts automatically generated. Speeds up learning LaTeX and makes complicated layouts easy and intuitive. Features include spell-checking, international character support, WYSIWYG graphics, tables, and equations. This version of LyX uses the Qt toolkit for the graphical interface.
Binary packages can be installed with the high-level tool pkgin (which can be installed with pkg_add) or pkg_add(1) (installed by default). The NetBSD packages collection is also designed to permit easy installation from source.
